Mrs. Tami Suits     2nd Grade

DSCN0802.JPG

Hello! My name is Mrs. Suits. I graduated (a little while back) from Lamar University and I have been a teacher for a total of 27 years. Through those years I've taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. I love my kids and am helping them to build a great foundation in reading, grammar, and writing in order to prepare them for the remainder of their education. My goal is to provide a safe haven for learning and character building.

Second Grade Curriculum:

Reading/ELA Curriculum - The English Language Arts and Reading curriculum is a combination of language experience, including daily opportunities for independent reading and writing.  We believe that students should receive some small group instruction at their level. The English Language Arts and Reading curriculum and instruction provides all students with the foundation necessary for success in all academic areas through a balanced, integrated approach to literacy. Reading, writing, speaking, listening, and inquiry skills, and the strategies that support them, directly contribute to the student's success in a rapidly changing world. Saxon Phonics and Spelling builds foundational skills with a unique research based method. The explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, spelling, and fluency is taught in small increments. Brainstorming, using graphic organizers, writing rough drafts, revising and editing, using a rubric to check their work, and publishing gradually gives them the tools to create wonderful writing pieces on their own.
